Sarah Folsom | Sarah Folsom Photography
Hi friends! I’m sure that you’ve gathered by now that I’m Sarah Folsom, owner and lead photographer. It delights me to know that you’re spending some time perusing my work and getting to know a little bit about me today. I wish we could sit down at a super cozy coffee shop with iced coffees and chat face to face. Maybe when we’re planning out your wedding day photo list we can!
I was born and raised in Madison, Georgia. After a few side quests to college in Tennessee [not the orange one ;)] and first jobs in Cincinnati, my college sweetheart and husband James and I moved back to my hometown to build our dream home in 2019. We always knew that we would find ourselves back in the greater Atlanta/greater Athens area. In hindsight, the timing was perfect.
We were balancing a wonderfully rambunctious toddler–our son, Daniel–and a gorgeous new born–our daughter, Riley–and building a new house. We were putting the final touches on the house when Covid hit. So, like any overworked and stressed out mom navigating a career change (I’d been an elementary school teacher and wedding photographer before our move), a global pandemic, and setting up a new home… I decided to give into my long desire to develop a full time career in photography, took some courses, and launched my wedding photography business in Georgia. The best thing about it is that James has been cheering me on the whole time!
I firmly believe that women wear many hats and should never be constrained to one choice or career path. My degree is in education, so I do homeschool my kids. I love that capturing wedding days also allows me to be present for my kids. It’s one of the biggest blessings in the world!

I Love Weddings
Here at Sarah Folsom Photography, loving weddings is in our DNA. Being a wedding photographer is such a rewarding experience because it means getting to witness and preserve some of the most meaningful moments in people’s lives. From the quiet anticipation while getting ready to the joy of the dance floor at the end of the night, every part of a wedding day tells a story. I love documenting the genuine emotions, the small in-between moments, and the connections between family and friends, creating images couples will cherish for the rest of their lives.

Millennial Checking In
I’m a Day One Swiftie. Give me “glitter gel pens” songs all day long! I missed out on the Eras Tour because of having a wedding booked. The bride may have been as equally bummed as I was!
Forever obsessed with Nathan and Haley, but Jim and Pam may be a very close second. The Office is my favorite show, even after all this time!
I’m an Enneagram 4 with a strong wing 3. Above all else, I value authenticity and beauty. It’s what allows me to flourish creatively! I’m empathetic to a fault. I love building genuine relationships.
My family and my friends are the most important things to me. I’m the eldest daughter of four and fiercely protective. I firmly believe when my brides choose me, they move into this category, to! I want to creatively provide an experience for my brides that long outlives my time in your life. I’ll advocate for you and your dream photos as much as I’ll fight for anything! (Don’t ask me about the time I almost started a non-profit, because I needed one more thing on my plate…)
Oh, and I bake a mean sourdough. You’ll want my blueberry and lemon zest recipe!

Those Summer Nights
My happy place is anywhere near water. If I don’t have a wedding booked on a summer weekend, you’ll find me floating in the pool or riding shotgun on our boat!
It’s my favorite season. There’s nothing like the soundtrack of Jimmy Buffet and waves lapping against the shore, a margarita or Sauvy B chilling in my right hand. Add in the laughter of the kids playing with one of their aunts or uncles and James and his friends fishing or grilling and you might call it paradise.
Thanks for spending a little bit of time with me. If you’re looking for your photographer, I’d love to chat with you. Let me know about anything we have in common!
