Birdie & Co Studio Bridal Session | Athens, GA
Today I’m sharing a very special bridal session with Carlie at Birdie & Co Studio! The pure excitement of seeing everything come together in a top secret pre-wedding “test run” is a pure prelude of joy. The peace and lack of pressure on the day really comes through in these photos. It’s a sacred glimpse into those last few moments before marriage.
My friend Danielle at Oakwood Lace & Co made her bouquet for this session. Not only does having a bouquet for the session allow for more pose options, it also gets you used to having something in your hands. If you’re anything like me, I didn’t always know what to do with my hands for pictures! The bouquet solves this problem.
Should I Use A Studio?
For this session, we chose a studio setting. When you’re planning for an early April wedding (and of course I’m not sharing until after the wedding, this ain’t my first rodeo), the weather is a variable for a bridal session that must be worked around. We used Birdie & Co Studio (owned by Brittany of Loverly Grey!), a modern, natural light, all white studio in Athens, GA. With its vast array of windows, the lighting is absolutely gorgeous for that bridal glow.
A major pro of using a studio session is that the dress stays clean. This is one of the most expensive clothing purchases you’ll ever make… why not take a few extra pictures in it? By not being out on the streets or in a grassy field, you won’t have to pay to get it cleaned before the wedding.
Fellow photographers, I highly recommend booking Birdie & Co for portrait sessions. They have soft seating options that you can use as props or of course the clean, blank canvas of the well-lit wall. It’s user friendly and easy to book!
Why Should I Have a Bridal Session?
This is one of my absolute favorite add-ons that I offer for my brides. A bridal session is the perfect test run of working together. I emphasize the importance of doing an engagement session for the same reason. It helps you to be at peak comfort level come wedding day. But I am not the only vendor who appreciates these. This is your hair test run, your make-up test run, and your bouquet test run. How else will you discover if your dress needs any last minute alterations without trying it on? This is how you test out that all of your jewelry, veil, and wedding shoes all work for you. All of these things feel like items on a checklist. Why not turn that checklist into another memory of one of the greatest seasons of your life?
I am so excited to share Carlie and Kyler’s wedding photos with you in a few weeks. But for now, check out this absolutely stunning bride!

Now Booking 2025
If you’re reading my blog, odds are that you’re checking out my portfolio to see if we are a good fit for each other. I hope you think we are! I’d love to chat with you. I am now booking my 2025 calendar and would love to pencil in your wedding on one of these blank weekends! Don’t forget that we’ve begun offering a new in-house content creation service (learn more below). One thing I’ve also been playing with lately is a Super 8 camera; would you want something like this from your engagement session? On top of our standard engagement + wedding package, we offer add-ons for rehearsal dinners, burying the bourbon, bridal portraits, and select travel opportunities (not that I’m begging for an Italian destination wedding… but I am). I can’t wait to hear from you!
