A Wedding at Little River Farms
Photographing Mollie and Josh‘s wedding at Little River Farms began around one of my favorite inquiry emails. Mollie reached out to me saying, “I love black and white photos. I also love candid photos. I’m always smiling and laughing and love to capture this in photos.” How could I say no? Black and white candids are almost always my all-time favorite of every session that I do. I’d been issued a challenge… and I think I delivered.
Some people say that they’re always smiling and laughing, but come their wedding day, the stress can start to get to them. That was not the case with Mollie! She lights up every single picture.
Mollie and Josh did not do a first look. In the back of my mind, I always worry about having enough time for portraits between the ceremony and reception. It’s part of the job, but I always do what my clients want. And, let me tell you, the lighting during their golden hour cocktail break was so exceptional that it’s like it was meant to be. These portraits couldn’t have been taken under any other sky.
One of my personal highlights was the groom’s best man, his grandfather. He was the MVP of the day, constantly keeping things in perspective, light, and beautiful. I think he also gave the funniest toast that I’ve ever heard, and that list gets longer almost every weekend!
As you’ll see in their reception details, the couple is obsessed with their cat Oliver. He’s an absolute doll! So, something fun I did for them was photoshop him into one of their first kiss photos. Having a little bit of fun keeps the creativity alive!
Also, if you’re struggling to come up with an exit… check out the poppers photos at the end. I loved the texture and visuals they added to the photos!
A Little About The Venue and Team
I’ve done quite a few weddings at Little River Farms over the last few seasons (with some more blogs to come). I personally like going back to the same gorgeous venues where I know that everything will go smoothly. Familiarity and comfort lets me do my job to a higher standard, though, don’t get me wrong, I love the challenge and excitement of a new venue, too!
I got to work with Oakwood Lace and Co., who if you’re following the blog you know I love. She handled all of Mollie and Josh’s planning and florals. A special thing she does for her brides is what she calls a bouquet reveal. Highly recommend incorporating this! Obsessed with Mollie’s sweet reaction to seeing hers.
Jay at One Night Entertainment is one of the most professional DJs I’ve worked with in the area. Whenever I see him, I know the reception is going to be the absolute best!
So keep going to check out some of my favorites from the day below!
