I’m a sucker for a good proposal story. In fact, I always ask my couples at their consultation how they got engaged. So, imagine how much I love photographing proposals? Um… the limit does not exist!

My good friend, Danielle, who’s the owner and master planner/florist at Oakwood Lace + Co, pulled off the surprise of the year with this proposal. She knew her friend, Allie was super suspicious of everything and knew a proposal would be coming, so Danielle went to great lengths to create a entire fake event to serve as a cover for the proposal. She invited Allie and their friends to a private, invite only, “floral showcase” at the State Botanical Gardens and asked me to photograph it! When Allie and Brent arrived, Danielle and her husband were posing at the “photo booth,” and when it was Allie and Brent’s turn to have their photo taken, their song started playing (Conversations in the Dark by John Legend) and Brent dropped to one knee. It was the sweetest moment and I absolutely loved that he held her hand to propose and then pulled out the ring.

This was literally one of the sweetest moments I have witnessed. When I look back at these photos, I still get goosebumps. The love between this couple and the love their friends and family have for them… it’s just so special. I’m so thankful I got to play a little role in this gorgeous day!!
