Meadows at Mossy Creek Wedding | Cleveland, GA
Carlyn and Forde’s wedding at the Meadows at Mossy Creek was an outdoor stunner! After watching the forecast all week leading up to the wedding, we knew it could be a close call for their outdoor venue. However, the rain quit falling just in time and held off through the ceremony!
If you missed last week’s blog highlighting their engagement session, definitely start there! Forde is in the Army, so it was very prevalent in the dress and decor of the day. Not only was he in the Army wedding uniform, but they entered their reception through a Saber Arch! I’d never seen one of these before and definitely had fun capturing cool photos for them in that moment.
The wedding took place the same day as the Army vs Navy football game. The down to the last second Army victory definitely started the party off right! One Night Entertainment kept up that energy and I love the dance floor candids!
Rain Plan? Wedding Planner!
Having a rain plan in place for your outdoor wedding is always paramount. But so is having an excellent wedding planner to help you execute it! Danielle at Oakwood and Lace Co. had her team ready for whatever Carlyn and Forde decided about the rain. As soon as the radar cleared, they quickly wiped down the seats to allow for the ceremony to start on time and the guests to stay dry. Wedding planners are the often unheralded rockstars making sure that everything is taken care of.
One thing that Carlyn and Forde did not do, unlike her sister, was a first look. However, once it started raining again after the ceremony, they braved the mist and we were able to capture some truly gorgeous couples’ portraits. I am obsessed with the ones we snagged including the umbrella!

2024 Dates Are Booking Fast
For all my future brides who have been looking into my work, I did want to let you know that my 2024 dates are booking fast. I know that planning a wedding during our current economy can feel extra daunting. One thing to remember is that your photographs will be one of the longest lasting keepsakes from this day that you’ll ever have. Make sure that you connect with your chosen photographer’s portfolio. Go beyond their curated Instagram feed (follow me if you don’t) and check out their actual galleries and blogs. They are still curated, but will give you a broader scope of what they’re bringing to your table. If you see a photographer’s work that captures the magic you’re desiring for your day? Don’t settle for less.
But also don’t forget to consider how your personalities mesh, how they may interact with your bridal party and family, or your other vendors. Did they come recommended from your trusted wedding planner? Do they have good reviews from former brides and other clients? When you spoke to them, did they pay attention to the details and grasp your vision?
Of course, I do hope you’re considering me. Interested in getting your wedding onto my 2024 calendar? I’d love to chat with you, just click here to get started.
