Biltmore Ballrooms Wedding Reception | Atlanta, GA
Maura and Max’s wedding at Cathedral of Christ the King was followed up by an elegant reception at Atlanta’s Biltmore Ballrooms! And you’re in luck, because you get to see the stunning work by the bride and her vendors at both locations today! Both venues were absolutely striking, but of course only served to highlight the true beauty of the day: the bride and the groom.
Savannah at Fete and Figs was absolutely essential for the day. I cannot stress how important it is to have a day of wedding coordinator/planner for the flow of all of the moving parts of what can turn into a hectic day. Especially if you are moving between venues. I love working with her! She certainly helps my job be easier on wedding day.
I thought Max’s decision to wear a cream colored jacket was inspired. Most people focus on the bride standing out in the pictures, but the groom should too! The jacket was the perfect choice to help him stand out. If you check out their engagement shoot, you can see that both of them radiate with color and joy. By standing out together from their bridesmaids and groomsmen, they carried this over.
A Secret Moment
During the cocktail hour, Maura and Max snuck into the reception room to check out all of the gorgeous details in solitude. Maura was overwhelmed with how all of the details came together to be her dream. Then, preciously, they took a moment to practice their first dance together before the guests were let in to be seated.
This solitary moment of dance erupted into an absolute blast of a dance party. Jeremiah at Nice Entertainment did a great job. The black and white candids really caught the movement and joy of the dance floor.
After the cake cutting, Maura surprised Max by bringing out a small carrot cake just for him! These small details and surprises are often the most genuine reflection of the couple you’re shooting. It’s beautiful and I’m obsessed with the look of surprised excitement on his face. Maura had also surprised her mother and father with personalized gifts earlier in the day. That’s how you know she’s got a special soul.
For my fellow photographers: Catholic ceremonies can be a little tricky. Make sure that you are aware of the rules of the church, such as whether or not you can use the main aisle to take pictures or if you can use flash. I am thankful for my mirrorless cameras during restrictions like no flash. I use the Canon R6 and R6 Mark II. I’ve been very impressed by the low light capabilities of that camera versus the older DSLRs I have used in the past.
