Cathedral of Christ the King Wedding | Atlanta, GA
Kristen and Brooks‘ wedding at Cathedral of Christ the King is going to be a two blog special. There are just so many aspects with this day that I’m obsessed with–and proud of–that I just have to share! Rachel snapped so many candids that truly captured the joy of this day. If I can brag on my sister for a second, I think that we make a great team; just like Kristen and Brooks!
We started the day getting ready at the Cherokee Town and Country Club, where I’ll be highlighting the reception next week. The grounds here were immaculate, super gorgeous, and stunning. The photos of the bridesmaids getting ready and their portraits were taken here. Speaking of the bridesmaids, this color palette is everything and that Barbie pink one was perfect. I absolutely loved that all of the bridesmaids got to choose a shade of pink that showed their personality.
We moved over to the Cathedral for our first looks with her family and the groom, as well as our groomsmen portraits. The first look on the stairwell with Kristen’s parents is an example of my favorite moment during a wedding day. My entire chest feels with warmth when I see her mother’s reaction. These are the moments that make every single day I go to work feel like magic.
Attention to Detail
Cathedral of Christ the King in Atlanta is one of my favorite Catholic churches that I’ve captured a wedding in. The beautiful courtyard is a cheat code for a photography setting! I loved that the blooming cherry blossom tree matched the bridesmaids dresses. I don’t think she could’ve planned it any more perfectly!
Kristen wore a custom dress with the most perfect of details. The lace overlay incorporated into the dress came from her sister’s wedding dress. You know that I’m a sucker for a good sister-related detail! It also was removable for a second look during the reception. There’s nothing better than versatility!
Kristen also chose an excellent group of vendors. Raina at Bristle and Bride did a gorgeous job as always with hair and make-up. Jenna Dillingham created an a show-stopping stationery set and crest for the wedding, don’t miss those photos below.
For my fellow photographers: Catholic ceremonies can be a little tricky. Make sure that you are aware of the rules of the church, such as whether or not you can use the main aisle to take pictures or if you can use flash. I am thankful for my mirrorless cameras during restrictions like no flash. I use the Canon R6 and R6 Mark II. I’ve been very impressed by the low light capabilities of that camera versus the older DSLRs I have used in the past.

Now Booking 2025
Odds are pretty high that if you’re reading my blog posts, you’re checking out my portfolio to see if we’re a good fit for each other. I hope you think we are! I’d love to chat with you. I am now booking my 2025 calendar and would love to pencil in your wedding on one of these blank weekends! Don’t forget that we’ve begun offering a new in-house content creation service (learn more below). One thing I’ve also been playing with lately is a Super 8 camera; would you want something like this from your engagement session? On top of our standard engagement + wedding package, we offer add-ons for rehearsal dinners, burying the bourbon, bridal portraits, and select travel opportunities (not that I’m begging for an Italian destination wedding… but I am). I can’t wait to hear from you!
Content Creation
A new service that we’re offering at Sarah Folsom Photography is Content Creation. What is this? This is a third person on your photography team who is dedicated to snapping in the moment candids and video clips on their iPhone throughout the entirety of the day. Do you need a Get Ready With Me TikTok for your wedding day? We’ve got you covered. Want to share a video of your grandma dancing with your college roommate to Instagram while on your honeymoon? It’s happening. All Content Creation content is delivered within 48 hours of the wedding so that while you’re relaxing poolside and waiting for your portraits, the entire world can start to share in your joy.
