Cherokee Town and Country Club Reception | Atlanta, GA
Brooks and Kristen‘s wedding reception at Cherokee Town and Country Club follows last week’s wedding blog. After the ceremony was over at Cathedral of Christ the King, we headed to the reception venue where I discovered one of my new favorite stunning backdrops in the city.
What an absolutely perfect location! Cherokee has character inside and out, oozing class and elegance.
Because we had already finished our portrait work, the wedding party went on to the cocktail hour while I took Brooks and Kristen out for more portraits. I love movement in photos. Whether that walking photos, twirling photos, the veil in movement… it adds a level of reality and fluidity to the photos that I just love. I firmly believe that the less stiff the photos look, the more it accurately captures the moment.
Inside for the Party
Once we were inside for the reception, it was time for just a few tears. Kristen’s dad gave an immaculate welcome toast, sharing stories of her as a child alongside the memory of when he first met Brooks.
For a couple who nailed the small details at every turn, one I appreciated was ice cream sandwiches instead of cake for their big dessert. It was a perfect personality capture!
Very quickly, however, the dancing begun. One of my favorite things to do is to photograph grandparents at a reception, especially if they’re dancing! Kristen and Brooks prioritize family, so they planned the timeline of their wedding day so that his grandparents could be there for the entire reception. That’s what we love to see!
BandX was pretty good! They brought down the house by bringing the couple on stage to help them sing “Friends in Low Places.” Any time you throw on Garth, you know it’s going to be an absolute party!
I loved their rose petal exit! It’s one of my favorite ways for a bride and groom to leave. It’s classic and timeless to a time where nostalgia holds strong.
Congratulations again, Kristen and Brooks! Check out some of my favorites from their reception below!

Now Booking 2025
Odds are pretty high that if you’re reading my blog posts, you’re checking out my portfolio to see if we’re a good fit for each other. I hope you think we are! I’d love to chat with you. I am now booking my 2025 calendar and would love to pencil in your wedding on one of these blank weekends! Don’t forget that we’ve begun offering a new in-house content creation service (learn more below). One thing I’ve also been playing with lately is a Super 8 camera; would you want something like this from your engagement session? On top of our standard engagement + wedding package, we offer add-ons for rehearsal dinners, burying the bourbon, bridal portraits, and select travel opportunities (not that I’m begging for an Italian destination wedding… but I am). I can’t wait to hear from you!
Content Creation
A new service that we’re offering at Sarah Folsom Photography is Content Creation. What is this? This is a third person on your photography team who is dedicated to snapping in the moment candids and video clips on their iPhone throughout the entirety of the day. Do you need a Get Ready With Me TikTok for your wedding day? We’ve got you covered. Want to share a video of your grandma dancing with your college roommate to Instagram while on your honeymoon? It’s happening. All Content Creation content is delivered within 48 hours of the wedding so that while you’re relaxing poolside and waiting for your portraits, the entire world can start to share in your joy.
