Ashleigh & Dewey’s engagement session and upcoming wedding hit all the venues that I consider the “Classic Athens. If you’ve spent any time in my galleries and blogs, you know that we are huge fans of the State Botanical Gardens of Georgia, the UGA North Campus, and the forthcoming wedding at the Georgia Club. When I look at these galleries after a session, I just think about how much I love celebrating my hometown area as much as I love celebrating my couples. I don’t take any part of my job for granted and I love the life I’ve built in this little corner of Georgia. I love seeing other couples that have done the same and helping them memorialize it!

What (Not) To Wear: Engagement Sessions

Many brides ask me what to wear for their engagement sessions. The correct answer is: whatever you feel comfortable in! Don’t be afraid to go formal. Who doesn’t love a man in a tux? Don’t be afraid to match. Your wedding has a color scheme; your engagement session can as well! Don’t be afraid to wear something that captures your every day life. Want your man in blue jeans and a flannel? Make it happen. Don’t be afraid to wear something you’ll never wear again. Who doesn’t love to treat themselves to a special shopping trip? Do you root for opposing collegiate football teams? Wear rival jerseys. Are we taking pictures at a lavender farm? Break out your favorite boots. This is your day. Your photos. Make sure they look like you.

However, I am also all about the details. If you want to be wearing heels in your photographs, bring flats for walking to preserve their cleanliness and for safety. If you want to test drive your wedding hair and make-up? Absolutely do that. Want to throw your hair in a slick ponytail and your every day make-up? I’m here for that, too. Just whenever you step out of that car to meet me, I want you to feel like you.
