Mackey House Wedding | Savannah, GA

I immediately want to say yes to any chance that I have to photograph a wedding or engagement session in Savannah. As you can imagine, when Jess and Chris brought me on board to capture their day at The Mackey House, I couldn’t have been more excited. Although we didn’t meet in person prior to their wedding, we planned out their desired shots over the phone and via email to make sure we captured every single moment of their day.

Upon arriving at the historic mansion, I met Jess and Chris for the first time. Both the bride and groom were the perfect, relaxed couple; but more importantly they were both so incredibly kind. Within moments, I felt like I’d known them for years! Unquestionably the Mackey House grounds are absolutely stunning; but if you ask me, the kindness and love radiating out of their photos puts the venue to shame.

As I watched this wedding celebration through my lenses, I could tell it was equally about including their friends and family in their joyous event as it was embarking on their new life together. They even found a way for their deployed Best Man to be a part of their ceremony—an inclusion that brought everyone both to laughter and tears.

Two of my favorite details from this day are best seen in the reception photos. Jess wanted her floral decorations to be inspired by wildflower fields resplendent with every color of the rainbow. When she walked in and saw what Oakwood Lace and Co had delivered, she immediately began crying tears of joy! Another detail I loved is that Jess and Chris are also both longtime John Denver fans and worked his records into one of the cutest guest books I’ve ever seen!
