Downtown Athens Engagement Session
Today we are following Meredith and Hunter’s engagement session from Lake Herrick to downtown Athens! If you’ve followed my photography for awhile, you know that I adore three things: lakes, dogs, and gorgeous lighting. In this series of photos, you get a healthy dose of all three!
We started out at Lake Herrick on UGA’s campus with their two precious dogs. I am an absolutely huge advocate of including your pets in your session in some capacity. They are such a vital and important part of your life and family.
Our next location was in downtown Athens. They specifically requested the Georgia Theater, a must, obviously. But then I also wanted to take them over to the Post Office, which is officially one of my favorite locations for photo sessions ever! The lighting somehow seems to be perfect every single time and it’s a perfect backdrop.
Storytelling Through Photography
As I look at the photos of them standing at the intersection of Broad and College, I become obsessed with the storytelling. I love the throughline of this series of seeing the docks, pathways, and then road crossings later on. Photography is about capturing the journey in the moment, and looking forward and back.
Speaking of looking forward, they are getting married next spring at the Hadden Estate! They’re also using my girl Danielle at Oakwood Lace and Co., so you know it’s going to be flawless. If this a venue you’re considering, check out some of my previous work there for ideas!
