Venue Highlight: The Georgia Club | Statham, GA
When I decided that I wanted to highlight local venues, I’d recently just had a near perfect day at The Georgia Club and knew they’d be early in my list! (And if you’re curious, and I know you are, check out this wedding blog covering that day.) Located conveniently just outside Athens, this venue would also be convenient for couples on the northeast/eastern side of Atlanta who want a little more rural vibe.
As a wedding vendor myself, I know the pain of watching my brides try to line up all the necessary vendors. One huge thing in The Georgia Club’s win column is that they are an all-in-one location: from the moment you wake up to get ready to the the reception send-off, you only have to be in one place. They also have in-house, delicious catering as a part of their packages and that helps remove one thing from your plate. But let’s talk about the photography highlights.
The Bridal Suite
As the final moments of the rehearsal dinner come to a close, the bride and her bridesmaids can escape to the onsite bridal suite. It’s conveniently located upstairs in the house and incredibly spacious. There’s no crawling over and around your friends as you get ready in this suite.
And the porch connected to the suite? Perfect for early morning mimosas and coffee before the chaos. The French doors? Magnificent for photos.
The Ceremony Site
Personally, this feels like a location directly out of a fairytale. The columns create beautiful framing. I’m obsessed with how lush and full the greenery is. Just think of how well your chosen color palette of flowers would pop there, if you didn’t just stick with the natural beauty. The brick pathway adds a perfect texture.
(And, if you’re of the Dawgs persuasion, you can claim you got married “between the hedges”!)
To the left of this spot is one of my favorite places to take portraits of couples. The way the light shines through the trees is just divine and the hedges are just perfect.
The Reception Ballroom
Some venues have traditional ballrooms with outdated colors that really make it hard for a bride and her team to bring to life her vision for decor. That is never going to be the case at The Georgia Club. Modern, yet honoring the timeless look of the original house. I really love this space.
Of course, there are so many other places to capture portraits on the ground. The golf course is littered with beautiful trees and flowers that edge the playing surface.
